What is Black Pudding?

Black Pudding is Traditional Dish, a Blood Pudding, every country has their variations Boudin Noir in France, Morcilla in Spain, Bludwurst In Germany etc. Its made with Blood, Herbs and Spice, Cereal content such as barley, rusk etc and fat.

 

What is the difference between Black and White Pudding?

We always say the only similarity between Black Pudding and White Pudding is the word Pudding. White Pudding is made with Pork and Bacon, No Blood. in fact White Pudding has a very high meat content.

 

I don’t like the idea of eating Blood

Most of the red meat you eat contains blood, however when it is cooked, you wouldn’t mind. Its the same with Black Pudding.  It doesn’t taste like Blood but still contains lots of iron, zinc and potassium.  The Blood is heat treated and is perfectly safe.

How do I cook a Black Pudding?

Black Puddings are already cooked but we always advise that you cook them. Traditional Horseshoe Black Pudding these are best simmered in water and sliced down the middle.  However you can slice them down the middle peel the skin of, pop on a plate, cover with a bit of clingfilm and cook for 2 minutes on high power in the microwave.

The sticks can be sliced and then cooked in the microwave, fired or grilled

 

Is Black Pudding Raw?

Black Puddings are already cooked but we alway advise that you cook them.

How fatty are Black Puddings?

Percentage wise our black puddings don’t contain that much fat, the lumps of fat make it seem so but these can be picked out

 

Is there a Gluten Free option?

We do a gluten free option, in both a synthetic skin and a natural casing, We substitute the ingredients that contain gluten for gluten free alternative, Pea Flour

 

Can I have a normal Black Pudding?

We don’t sell normal Black Puddings only Exceptional Award Winning Black Puddings.

 

What is Vegetarian Black Pudding?

It’s the same great flavour as our Award Winning Black Puddings Except we have substituted the Blood and the Fat, for a blood like substance which contains beetroot and veg suet instead of the fat. The V Pud is also suitable for Vegans.
